Out of the Darkness Community Walk
Saturday, September 23, 2017

Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through.  Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance and a walk that unites a community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. We all wear honor beads – each color shows our personal connection to the cause, and helps us identify others who understand our experience

The Agate Pass Cafe…Coming soon to Bainbridge Island!

We would like to share this announcement from the Agate Pass Cafe:

Alright! The time has come to publicly announce and clarify some rumors you may have been hearing about The Agate Pass Cafe.

Port Madison Enterprises, the owners of our building, have decided to terminate our lease. The same fate happened to Scratch Kitchen (Bella Luna). We still have some time left on our lease, so we will continue to stay open in Suquamish 7 nights a week, plus Sunday Brunch, far into next year. So no, we are definitely not closed, we are open and serving right now!

So we had to find a new location, because the only other option was to close it down for good, and none of us want that. After a long search, we found an awesome location, and will be moving to Bainbridge Island sometime next year (2018) after we remodel the new spot! Our new location will be behind the Alehouse, right next to the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. It is truly a beautiful location, and it’s bigger too (more seating, yay)! We are going to work very hard to ensure the same delicious food and service our customers love in the new location. We will keep you updated on when the move will occur, but for now we’re going to keep plugging along at our Suquamish location.

We are very sad to have to be leaving our Suquamish location. It’s been our home for 10 years, and it’s been a joy to be able to serve multiple communities. We would like to apologize to our Suquamish, Poulsbo, Kingston, Silverdale, Bremerton, Port Ludlow, and Port Townsend customers for moving further away from you. Location options were rather limited, and we felt the spot we’ve chosen is the best possible place for us to continue to improve who we are and what we do. We hope the extra drive time will be worth it to visit us in our new location. Please keep in mind, if we ultimately were given the choice, we would not move. But sadly, our hands are tied.

So there you have it! I will continue to update you all with info as new things come to pass. But until then, come visit us in our Suquamish location while you still can, and help us celebrate the 10 years in this awesome place we’ve called home. Thank you for continuing to love, support, and believe in us. You are the reason we decided to keep going. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Below is a picture of our new location. We’ll see you soon Bainbridge!
