Exciting Holiday Features

Across Bainbridge, the 2015 holiday season features dozens of unique, artful, and enthralling activities for any individual or family.

From December 4th to the 20th, Ovation! Musical Theatre Bainbridge is delighted to present the family musical, Oliver!, in nine performances at the BHS Theatre (no affiliation, we rent the stage) December 4-20, 2015. The production is directed by Ron Milton with musical direction by Caroline Pierce and will be presented with a live orchestra.

On Friday, from 10am to 1pm, Winslow photographer Nick Felkey will be offering photos with Santa at Columbia Bank, for the cost of a can of food or cash donation to benefit Helpline House.

From December 12th to January 3rd, Bloedel Reserve will feature a miniature holiday village and model train exhibit hand-built by Dwight Shappell, former owner of Dwight’s Flowers on Bainbridge, will be on display from 10am to 4pm. All ages enjoy the wonder of the Holiday Village at Bloedel Reserve. Intricately designed hand-made buildings and whimsical trains create holiday memories for years to come. With the Visitor’s Center decked to the nines, and cider simmering, it becomes an experience for the senses.

On December 11th, bundle up for a winding winter walk through Bloedel Reserve with horticulturist Andy Navage– $5 for members or $21 for non-members, which includes full day admission.

On December 12th, enjoy a holiday concert at Island Center Hall, featuring Grammy Award-winning artists, Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel. The perfect blend of Americana fingerstyle guitar, double reeds; and the ocarina emitting the nostalgic sound of penny whistles, lends magic to the season that fills the world with hope through the redeeming power of music. Festive and reverent, solemn and lively, the repertoire Eric and Nancy bring to audiences year after year are perennial favorites that have been passed down through the ages. Well-known throughout the country and throughout the music industry, Tingstad & Rumbel won the Best New Age Grammy Award in 2003 in support of Acoustic Garden. Tingstad’s latest ensemble release, Southwest, was nominated for a Grammy in 2007. Tickets are $25 at the door, or $20 in advance. Fore more information, please call (206) 842-2306.

On Sunday, December 13th, don’t miss Eagle Harbor’s Annual Parade of Boats! Light a candle and welcome the arrival of Argosy’s Christmas Ship, accompanied by a flotilla of decorated boats rom 6-8 p.m. Dec. 13 at Waterfront Park. Enjoy holiday music and caroling, free cocoa and hot cider. Candles provided. Decorate your own boat with holiday spirit and join the party.
