Critical Areas Ordinance Update

Tuesday, October 3rd | 7-9pm City Hall

On October 3, a Public Hearing will be held on the City’s 2017 Critical Areas Ordinance Update. One of the changes to highlight involves new regulations for critical aquifer recharge areas. To support the City’s Comprehensive Plan land use concept and maximize aquifer recharge opportunities, the entirety of Bainbridge Island outside of Designated Centers is designated as critical aquifer recharge areas.¬† Designated Centers include Downtown/Winslow Center, Business/Industrial areas, Rolling Bay Center, Island Center, and Lynnwood Center. Proposed critical aquife recharge area regulations include designation and protection of native vegetation as part of development or redevelopment on properties within critical aquifer recharge areas.
