December is Buzzing in Winslow!

From the Christmas House near Port Madison, open every weekend until Christmas to Seasonal music from a live brass band on Winslow Green (December 19th), December on the Island is full of winter delights.

The month begins with the First Friday Art Walk along Winslow Way, Erickson, Parfitt, and Madison, on December 4th, and is closely followed by Bainbridge Island’s Winter Studio Tour and the 22nd Annual Christmas in the Country, both self-guided tours of historical homes, sixty-four artists and nine art studios on the Island.

The First Friday Art Walk, organized by the Bainbridge Island Downtown Association, is held from 5pm to 8pm. This month, the Bainbridge Public Library will highlight the work of artists Susan Wiersema and Lynnette Sandbloom.

The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour invites you to celebrate the beauty and craftsmanship of local, handmade art. A twice-annual, free, self-guided art show, the Studio Tour has enjoyed great success since 1984. Regional artists jury in to the summer and winter art shows, and sell their work at Island artists’ studios and historic community halls. When you visit the studios, you’ll see some works in progress, raw materials, tools, and perhaps some inspiration mixed in with a little sawdust. Meeting the artists and discussing their work and vision in person is sure to be an enchanting experience. By visiting and shopping at the Tour, you are not only buying hand-crafted works of art, you are also supporting the local economy and helping artists to thrive.

Christmas in the Country is a 22 year tradition on Bainbridge, held the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of December. A juried art show, this celebration of the Christmas season supports home based business entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, artists, authors, and musicians. The map of venues includes pony rides at Countryman Stables, a visit with Santa, and the opportunity for incredible family memories. Venues are open for visitors from 10am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday the 6th.
