Fun Family Halloween Events on Bainbridge Island!

Saturday, October 28, 2017, walks beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Animal handlers will give you an up-close look at spooky and nocturnal creatures and explain each animal’s unique characteristics. Participating past animals included an opossum, a vulture and an owl.

Walks leave every 10 minutes and guests should purchase tickets for selected time slots. Afraid of the dark? Select an earlier walk. Like things extra-spooky? Choose one of the later times. Either way, please bring a flashlight to help maneuver your way along the paths.

Battle Point Park

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, October 23-25

  • Rides leave every ten minutes starting at 6:00pm. (Arrive at least ten minutes prior to your scheduled time.)
  • $7 (includes tax) ages 3 & up; 2 and under free.
  • Registration required for your ride. Activity #541000.

Ride through the “haunted” pumpkin-lined trails of Battle Point Park, where ghosts, zombies, mummies and even historic figures emerge from the shadows. Make crafts and play games before your hayride and warm up afterwards with cider and cookies. This is a not-too-scary family friendly event. Event happens rain or shine. No Refunds. Parking off of Battle Point Road.

Trick-or-Treat Bainbridge Downtown

Tuesday, October 31st | 4-6pm 

Winslow Way merchants join the festivities as thousands of masked superheroes, pirates, fairy princesses, and storybook characters descend on downtown for two hours of Halloween fun. Winslow Way will be open for pedestrian traffic only during the hours of 4-6 pm, with Bainbridge Island Police officers and members of Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs on hand to provide additional traffic management and crossing safety for little trick-or-treaters.

Spooktacular events are set throughout downtown, as shopkeepers up and down Winslow Way will be open to greet ghouls of all ages! The City of Bainbridge Island will once again be opening City Hall for trick-or-treaters.

Week long community celebration starts:

Saturday, October 28

  • 10:30-11:30am – Opening presentation, public remembrances and offerings.
  • 11:30am-2pm – Face painting, papel picado (cut paper), and tissue paper flower activities in the classroom. Sample Mexican hot chocolate and pan de muerto. Themed lunch menu available for purchase in the Bistro while supplies last.
  • 11:30am-6pm – Hosted ofrenda: public contributions to the altar.

Thursday, November 2

  • 4-6pm – Observation of Dia de los Muertos Holiday at the ofrenda.

October 29 – November 5 

  • 10am-6pm – Ofrenda/altar open to the public.

The West Sound Wildlife Shelter presents Raptor Rhapsody!

 This event is a perfect opportunity to meet the Shelter’s raptors in an informal setting and help us celebrate our future home in Port Gamble. This is being held in conjunction with the first ever Port Gamble Summer Faire! There will be plenty of fun crafts for kids!

West Sound Wildlife Shelter’s resident raptors include:  barred owls, a red-tail hawk, an American kestrel, a peregrine falcon, and a turkey vulture.  Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about common raptors of the Pacific Northwest and their habitats and add a side trip with a short trail walk and see the Shelter’s future home.

Admission is $5 per person for people ages 5 and up, kids 4 and under free.  All ticket proceeds go to the direct care of our educational ambassadors and patients.  Tickets purchased at the door, or online.

A couple of Animal Benefit Events

Love animals? Here are a couple of holiday events to support some worthy causes!

ps_chipmunk2West Sound Wildlife Shelter Holiday Open House from 11am-3pm on December 3rd. This event is free but please bring the animals a gift from their wishlist. During this event, you can meet wildlife ambassadors, learn how they care for babies and other patients and tour parts of the shelter. There will also be crafts for kids and food/drinks for sale to help raise money. For more information or to see the animal wishlist, visit their website at

Kitsap Human Society Santa Paws also on December 3rd from 11am-2pm at Bay Hay and Feed. Have your pet and/or family photographed with Santa Claus! Cost is $20 and pictures are digital files only. Participants will receive an email with a link to download their photos. All proceeds benefit the Kitsap Humane Society. Dogs must be leashed. Make a Difference: Whiskies for Wildlife Fundraiser

The fabulous Whiskies for Wildlife fundraiser will be held at  Islandwood on Saturday, February 9th at 5pm.  This annual event features rare and exclusive single malt whiskies (over 135 of them!) paired with scrumptious food crafted by Islandwood’s acclaimed chef.  Alternative beverages for non-whiskey drinkers will also be served. Tickets are $150 and all proceeds benefit West Sound Wildlife Shelter.  The shelter serves a critical role on Bainbridge Island,  providing housing and rehabilitation to  injured wild animals who otherwise might not receive the help they need.  This year alone the shelter has taken in over 1,000 animals.  Whiskies for Wildlife is an important fundraiser for an important cause.  To find out more, contact West Sound Wildlife Shelter or click here.
